Repairing Sleeper Ottomans

All pieces of furniture eventually suffer damage. They end up with small rips and tears, and sometimes they even lose legs. If you have a sleeper ottoman that has seen better days, do not toss it yet. Repairing sleeper ottomans is really quite simple in many circumstances. Give these techniques a try before you toss that sleeper ottoman to the curb.

Repairing fabric

The most common defect in this type of furniture is a tear in the fabric. There are several ways to deal with this. If the tear is really large, you can contact the manufacturer of the sleeper ottoman and ask for some material to help you repair the tear. Place the piece of material under the tear. You may have to lift the edges of the loose material to do this. Then, use a fabric glue like Tear Mender to attach both sides of the rip to the new underlying piece of fabric. This may not look good as new, but it sure looks better than a big tear. Small tears are easy to fix the same way, but in some cases, you can just use fabric glue and avoid the under patch.

Replace a leg

If your sleeper ottoman is missing a leg, flip it over and get to work. Reattaching the leg is as easy as applying some super glue and letting it sit for a few minutes. It may not stay re-attached forever, but you can repeat this repair process every few months if needed since it is so simple.

It is not uncommon for sleeper ottomans to rip or lose legs. Fix these issues yourself, and avoid getting a new piece of furniture.
